Harvest is an e-commerce application concept, that was developed for a university UX/UI course. Project was conducted in 2 week sprints and it lasted for 8 weeks. The service is designed to bring together local food providers and consumers in the Pirkanmaa region and to enable purchasing food items straight from the producers. It also promotes seasonal and more sustainable eating habits.
Harvest structure consists of the following:
- home feed that promotes relevant content like different item categories, sales etc
- marketplace that facilitates manual search for items and producers
- in season, which highlights what items are available in abundance and which are about to go off season
Part of the design, we implemented a low-carbon version of the application, in which visuals are changed into vector graphics and carousels are swapped for lists to reduce the number of elements loaded immediately when opening the application. With a picture heavy service like Harvest, already by swapping high quality product images for vector graphics, the load images produce to the service was reduced by a whopping 99%!
My main responsibility in this project was the home feed, product details page development and low-fi design of the service. I also took part in developing interactive features in the in season section, but those ideas were not implemented.
